Brown died at just 32 years of age on Friday, November 14, in a New York hospital after a long battle with cancer.
Diem, who was also an entertainment reporter, had been diagnosed with
the disease for the third time this year after an initial bout in 2006, while she was just 24, and another in 2012.
She rose to fame in 2006 after her debut appearance on MTV's Real World/Road Rules Challenge and she founded MedGift, a charity organization which provides a platform for medical patients to create a gift registry, as a result of her health struggles.
She kept fighting till the end and on Tuesday, November 11, wrote on Twitter:
“I NEED prayers and advice my doctors are seemingly giving up but I won't & can't rollover. Whatever option I have to LIVE I'm grabbing!… Need prayers, advice, support & outreach. No is not an option.”
Diem Brown is survived by her father, two sisters, and brother. May her soul rest in peace.
Ashley Kelsey, who was very close with her, tweeted, “My heart is broken. There is no worse feeling then the feeling I have right now. I woke up this morning excited to get on this plane and see D and finally get to be there for her and hug her but I’m too late. . .this can’t be real.”
Unfortunately, she passed away on the morning on Nov. 14 after a long battle with cancer. She remained vigilant to the end, tweeting just days before her death that she wanted to live.
Just hours before, almost all of her co-stars, including her ex, tweeted nothing but hope for her.
“Your smile can change the world. It’s not the other way around… @diembrown,” he captioned a photo of Diem, blonde and smiling happily without a care in the world.
