Court Stops Presidency, PDP From Removing Tambuwal As House Speaker

Court Stops Presidency, PDP From Removing Tambuwal As House Speaker…APC Reps Storm Court For Another Suit
A Federal High Court in Abuja today granted Aminu Tambuwal an order stopping the lower chambers of the National Assembly from re-convening before November 7 when the suit filed by the Speaker would be heard. This is even as members of the APC in the House of Representatives led by Femi Gbajabiamila , stormed the court with a separate suit seeking to stop the House from re-convening.
Justice Ahmed Mohammed of the Abuja division of the court granted the interim injunction after listening to the ex-parte application brought by the embattled Speaker to stop a move by the presidency and the ruling PDP from reconvening the House to impeach Tambuwal following his defection to the APC last week.
In the said motion exparte, Tambuwal specifically asked for an order of interim injunction stopping the House of Representatives from re-convening and removing him from office pending the determination of the suit he filed last Friday.
Joined in the suit are the PDP, its national chairman, Adamu Mu’azu, House of Representatives, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Inspector General of Police, Independent National Electoral Commission and Attorney General of the Federation, AGF as first to seventh defendants respectively.
Tambuwal had last Friday filed a motion on notice at the registry seeking to stop his removal from office and restoration of his security aides. While ruling on the application, Justice Mohammed held that parties in the suit should maintain status quo until the substantive suit is heard. He further ordered the defendants in the suit to appear on the next adjourned date to show cause why Tambuwal’s prayers should not be granted and thereafter adjourned till November 7.
In the same vein, members of the APC in the House in a separate suit filed today also want the court to stop the House of Representatives from removing Tambuwal as the speaker.
