How To Get Your Wedding Photos Right

Follow these tips for superb wedding photos.
  1. Pose right: Standing awkwardly in front of the camera is no way to pose for your big day. It is not only important to look beautiful but one has to look confident too. Follow the secret of top models and actors who are naturals on camera. When you strike a pose, don't expose your entire frame. Only show three-fourths of your body for a slimmer appearance. Avoid staring directly into the camera. Suck your belly in and stand straight with your shoulders erect when the photographer takes the snap.
  2. Use photo-ready makeup: How many times have we seen wedding photos where the bride's face looks like a white orb because of using too much foundation? Although foundation evens out your skin tone, it can ruin pictures. The extra shine and white powder reflects the flash and dulls your complexion instead of having it glow. Use photo-ready foundation, and makeup in this category, to avoid this. Do a trial with your makeup artist before the wedding and ask a friend to click your pictures for an idea of how they will turn out on the actual day.
  3. Camera at eye level: To avoid a double chin from taking over your beautiful visage, ask the photographer to position the camera either at eye level or above it. It also helps to tilt your head a little and look up.
  4. Avoid hard lighting: Outdoor day weddings are tricky because the photographer needs to find the right natural light to click the couple. Try to find a dim spot in the hours before dusk. As for indoor ceremonies, the issue is the bright light that casts a shadow on the couple's face. Your dark circles will appear deeper. Make sure you don't stand directly under the blinding hall lights and avoid the direct glare. Ask the wedding planner for soft lights for a photo session.
  5. Don't forget to smile: All the hectic activities and stress can leave you tired, but smile you must. It will be your weapon to combat the tiredness. If it gets too difficult to keep grinning with the droves of friends and relatives eager to take snaps with you, think of all the plans you've made for your married life and it will light up your face like a 1,000-watt bulb!
