A Kuje Magistrates’ Court, Abuja, on Tuesday remanded a 27-year-old musician, Oche Shadrack, in prison for allegedly stealing a laptop.
Shadrack, who resides in the Anguwan Gade Area of Kuje, is standing trial on four counts of criminal trespass, house breaking, mischief and theft.
The prosecutor, Mr. Ocheche Samuel, had told the court that the matter was reported at the Kuje Police Station by one Mr. Solomon Obani, who resides at Kayarda Area of Kuje on October 15.
The prosecutor said that on the same date the matter was reported, Shadrack broke into
the complainant’s house at Kayarda Area.
He said the accused stole an HP laptop, a pressing iron, a clipper and a Motorola handset, all valued at N250,000.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the offences contravene the provisions of sections 342, 346, 326 and 286 of the Penal Code.
Section 286 prescribes five years imprisonment for anyone convicted of the offence of theft.
Shadrack, however, pleaded not guilty after the charges were read to him.
