Sallah Day Tragedy: Drunken Man Killed By Hit-And-Run Okada

The late Arthur was said to be dead drunk when he died
While many Nigerians celebrated the last Eid-el Kabir Sallah, the family of an Edo State born man simply identified as Arthur, has been thrown into mourning when their bread winner was crushed to death by a hit-and-run commercial motor cyclist popularly called Okada, in the Idimu area of Lagos.
The 47-year-old Arthur, who was an aluminium materials contractor, according to police report, was
dead drunk at the time of the incident as he was seen staggering along the road after an outing on the day.
The Punch Newspaper also reported that Arthur had gone out on Saturday, 4th October, 2014, to celebrate the festive period with friends but could not get back home to his family alive. He was said to have more than he could drink and in his drunken stupor, was knocked down around Hotel bust stop along the Igando-Iyana-Iba road. With the culprit escaping into the night, the man was abandoned on the road the whole night where he lost a lot of blood.
His friend with whom he had gone out together, called Charles, returned to the spot the next day and rushed him to a private hospital at Car Wash bus stop, Idimu, Lagos, where he eventually died.
It was gathered that the case was reported at the Area M Police Command and Charles was said to have been arrested and was being interrogated by the police.
A relative of the deceased, who did not give her name, told Punch that Arthur’s wife and only child were staying in Benin, Edo State.
